JAZZ BAND: USE IN SPINAL FRACTURES

The neurosurgery team at the Papa Giovanni XXIII Hospital in Bergamo has completed a study entitled ”The effectiveness of short hybrid stabilisation with sublaminar bands and transpedicular screws in the treatment of thoracolumbar spine fractures” that will soon be published in the Journal of Neurosurgery.

This study shows that short hybrid constructs consisting of pedicular screws and sublaminar bands are effective in the treatment of thoracolumbar spine fractures, as they provide the same clinical results as long constructs, but with the following advantages: improved post-operative mobility while reducing the risk of degeneration of adjacent segments.
